2026 Summer Public Defense Conference

Dr. Adriana Flores is a forensic psychologist and President of the Georgia
Psychological Association. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Emory
University School of Medicine where she trains and supervises forensic
psychology postdoctoral fellows in the Psychiatry and the Law Program.
Dr. Flores is a highly sought-after evaluator and expert witness in criminal
matters. She specializes in use of an ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
framework in mitigation. In her work, she seeks to answer “How did we get
here?” by integrating research on ACEs and developmental trauma in her
forensic evaluations, examining their relationship to mental health, substance
abuse, violence risk, and criminal behavior.
She is routinely contracted in “high profile” cases. Dr. Flores is a dynamic expert
witness who has testified over 100 times in federal and state courts throughout
the country. As a bilingual evaluator and native Spanish-speaker, Dr. Flores is
able to evaluate Spanish-speaking individuals through a “cultural lens” resulting
in evaluations that are culturally sensitive, valid, and helpful to the court
