About me
Daryl Queen is a native of Severn, Maryland. After high school he moved to Georgia where he met his future bride of over thirty-five years. Mr. Queen completed law school and became a member of the Georgia Bar in 1995. He began his legal career as a sole practitioner traveling throughout the state handling both civil and criminal matters in both state and federal courts. In 2000, he began a life of public service representing indigent criminal defendants. Throughout nearly thirty years of practice, Mr. Queen has conducted nearly two hundred serious felony trials to verdict. He has served as lead counsel in both state and federal court, ranging from traffic violations to the death penalty. He currently is the Chief Assistant at the Law Office of the DeKalb County Public Defender Office where he maintains a small caseload while helping to lead, manage and coach over seventy attorneys. Though his bread and butter is homicide, he dabbles in officer misconduct and white-collar. He has assisted and supervised junior attorneys on over fifty jury trials. When given the opportunity he enjoys speaking in the community to demystify the legal system and preach that public defenders are “real” lawyers too. He has been a friend and mentor to countless attorneys as they make their way through a career of criminal defense. Finally, he strives to be an inspiration to numerous interns considering a future in indigent defense
