Michael Syrop graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor'sdegree in Political Science. A year running a children's clothingstore convinced him that his thoughts of law school were wellfounded.Michael received his law degree from WashingtonUniversity in St. Louis before moving to Georgia with his wifeNancy where both began practicing in Marietta.Michael has been practicing criminal defense since 1991 and hasworked in Accountability Courts since 2006. From 2006 - 2022Michael was involved in Cobb County's Drug Treatment Court,Mental Health Court, and Veterans' Accountability and TreatmentCourt.Since 2022 Michael has been on the teams of the PauldingCounty Drug Treatment Court and Mental Health Court.Michael had his own firm from 1995 to 2022, and in October of2022 became the Circuit Public Defender for Paulding County.He has served as a panelist at The Conference of AccountabilityCourt Judges regarding best practice issues for defense attorneys.
